Okay, I just want to clear this up. Noone knows that Xanthos is the leader of the Death Eaters. At least not yet. All anyone knows is that a Dark Lord is rising, and they don't know who it could be, or that he resides in Hogwarts. Well, the Death Eaters do, of course, but noone else. They can have their suspicions, but not everyone can know or assume that Xanthos is the Dark Lord.
